Our Core Purpose
Acumen Associates was established to support schools, and particularly church schools and Dioceses, in an age of change and uncertainty. Our aim is to provide guidance and bespoke support with a professional approach. We are passionate about supporting schools as they strive to achieve academic success whilst focusing on the well-being of pupils and providing a good education, promoting ‘life in all its fullness’ (John 10:10).
Acumen Associates was created in 2008 by Andrew Martin. Over several years and many projects, Acumen has evolved into a tight knit group of trusted and highly experienced associates who offer a range of specialist skills from education and business.
Acumen Associates have to date supported 11 dioceses with the development of their multi academy trusts, acting as advisers and mentors, managing specific projects and filling or supporting roles such as director of business. We have developed constructive partnerships with businesses and individuals with whom we work to support education within and across the Church of England.
Company Director Andrew Martin has over 25 years’ experience in education. This includes teaching and school leadership in the UK and abroad, and working for The National College for School Leadership (now the National College for Teaching and Leadership) at both a national and regional level.
From 2013-16, Andrew worked as Academy Adviser for the Church of England Education Office to support the development of multi academy trusts (MATs), with a focus on strategy, organisational structures and business processes. He is now working with the Church of England Foundation for Educational Leadership, supporting the Foundation with their multi academy trust and CEO activity, including as programme lead for their MAT Chief Executives Programme.
